During this two-day hike, you will explore the High Atlas Mountains on foot, walking along paths worn by generations of Berber travellers from Imlil Valley to isolated villages. Watch for wildlife as you rise over high passes — the High Atlas are home to the Moorish gecko, vivid bee-eaters, and the fierce Lanner falcon.
Depart from Marrakech towards the High Atlas via Tahnaout, Oued Ghighaya, and Asni. Arrive at Imlil (65km from Marrakech), meet guide and muleteer. Trek and climb Tizi Mazik pass (2,500m) with spectacular views over Imlil Valley and Toubkal Summit. Continue to Tamsoulte to visit the highest waterfalls in the Atlas (100m). Descend through juniper forest to Tizi Oussem village. Overnight at a Berber house. 6 hours walking.
After breakfast, enjoy the sunshine over this colourful valley with its marvellous Berber villages. Leave Tizi Oussem, continue to Id Issa village, head up to Tizi Oudid mountain pass (2,000m), cross Matat village through wild juniper forest. Lunch under walnut groves near the river. Afternoon transfer back to Marrakech.
